Insight Positions Bauer for Success
Date: 30 Jul 2011
Insight Marine Projects are proud to announce the successful installation of a drilled-in monopile foundation at the EMEC tidal test site, Orkney by Bauer Renewables Ltd.
Precision surface and subsea positioning services were supplied by Insight Marine Projects onboard the dynamically positioned North Sea Giant for the duration of this technically demanding project. The EMEC test site presents numerable challenges with incredible tidal streams which makes the completion of any project of this kind a major achievement.
Using the DP vessel, the 2m diameter foundation was installed to schedule at the EMEC site for the client Voith Hydro. An exceptional challenge was posed not only by the drilling works at a water depth of 37 metres, but also by the extremely strong currents of up to 4.5 meters per second.
